“It begins with a name” Indeed it does. My name is Elvira Sadoma, and I have a string of nicknames that have followed me over the years. Elle, Vi, simply E or V. All are in good favor. I am 19 turning 20 in June.
I am on the right. Dear friend Sarah on the left.
Currently I reside in Rocklin in northern California, a little suburb just north of Sacramento (the state capital). I grew up in West Sacramento in a small community of known friends and families. Originally I am from Estonia, my parents emigrated from there in ’91 with the fall of the Soviet Union.
Academia: In short, I am in my second year at the local JC here in Rocklin and am, as the blogging team so kindly put it, in limbo. My goal is to finish up there within a year and move on to higher aspirations. My interests at the moment are in the liberal arts. I brushed up a bit on History. Im also on friendly terms with English, however Sociology does not take kindly to me.
I work with my father in his jewelry business. I do still live with my parents. My favorite part of California is the diversity we enjoy. I love visiting the beach, hiking, and kayaking. And do enjoy a game night of Settlers of Catan with friends.
My favorite accessory is chapstick. I love mixing my cereals for breakfast. I like (not love) to run on occasion. Books are a passionate pastime of mine. I am definitely a night owl, not an early bird. Photography is a beautiful art, and I hope to cultivate my skill in it.
I’ve been on missions to Mexico in the past, mainly working with children. Also I was part of the leadership on a team that set up a camp for inner-city youth in Fresno, CA all with my church.
Mexico and Fresno, respectively.
I am beyond words to describe my excitement and anticipation for this trip. Human trafficking has been an issue that I’ve been exposed to through a series of connections; ones with friends involved in awareness, our church support to a home in Cambodia, and a rude awakening of the sex-trafficking taking place in my own hometown of Sacramento.
Being a disciple of Jesus has been my main concern for the past several years. The knowledge that I have of his life and truth is something that is central to my being. And best that I can, I try to share that with others. Enter, AIM and Thailand.
Far from short is this Bio but I hope that this gives you a glimpse of me. I am very excited to meet you all and serve with you this summer!
Shalom.
